Zazzle is one of the most popular sites on the web, reaching over 3 million people a month and offering thousands of personalized products for sale. You can buy and customize everything from shirts and mugs to iPhone covers and laptop sleeves. They also have plenty of cards, stamps and stationery for Christmas. But did you know you can use the site to actually print your Christmas letters? Because you can add text to almost any product offered on the site, including stationery, it’s easy to get your letters printed right on the letterhead you’ve selected. Here’s how.
The first thing you should do is write your Christmas letter in a word processing program. You’ll want to leave about 2 inches of margin all the way around so you don’t have too much text to fit on the page, and make sure you choose a font size that is easy for your readers to see (10-point to 12-point font is a good choice).
Now save your letter and then go to Zazzle and look for Christmas letter paper that you like. Zazzle has a nice selection of designs from which to choose. Click on any design you like to see the product details and then look for a button right under the product image that says “Customize It.” Almost all products on Zazzle offer this option, although some do not.
Once you find the button, click it. You’ll now see another menu next to the product image that has options for Add Images and Add Text. This is where you can customize your Christmas letterhead. To add the Christmas letter that you saved in your word processing, click the Add Text button and paste the text in the box. Then click the Done button.
(Note: You could actually write your entire letter in the Add Text box, but it’s much easier to copy and paste from a word processor because you already know how much space it should take on the page.)
After clicking Done, you’ll get a preview of what your letter will look like on the page. It will probably be WAY too big, so try resizing the font by editing the box with the number under the Add Images button. Try a small number like 1.8 or 2.0 and see how it looks. Adjust the number until the text fits on the page well.
You may also need to reposition your text. To do this, click on it to make a border with little boxes around the edges appear. You can click and drag these boxes to change margins and move your text.
Keep adjusting until you find the look you want. You can also change the font style or color using the tools provided, or you can add additional text boxes or even an image.
When you’re ready, use the magnifying glass above the preview to get a closer view. When you’re happy with the product, click Save if you want to come back later or Add to Cart if you’re ready to checkout. That’s all there is to it! When your stationery arrives, your holiday letter will already be printed on it, so you won’t need to hassle with your printer.
